Vicem Yachts

Vicem Yachts was founded in 1991 by Sebahattin Hafizoglu. The company's origins trace back to a desire to blend traditional Turkish woodworking with modern yacht construction techniques. Initially, Vicem focused on building classic-style motor yachts, drawing inspiration from New England lobster boats and commuter yachts. The first yachts were constructed in a facility in Tuzla, Istanbul, Turkey. Over the years, Vicem expanded its product lines, introducing flybridge, cruiser, and sportfish models, while retaining a commitment to cold-molded wood construction for many of its yachts. This construction method, which involves layering thin veneers of mahogany coated with epoxy resin, contributes to the yachts' aesthetic and structural characteristics.

In the early 2000s, Vicem began to establish a presence in the international market, particularly in the United States and Europe. The company opened offices and dealerships to support its growing export business. A significant milestone for Vicem was the introduction of larger yacht models, including superyachts, which showcased the shipyard's capabilities in building custom and semi-custom vessels. While initially renowned for its cold-molded construction, Vicem has also incorporated fiberglass (GRP) construction into its offerings for certain yacht lines, such as the Vulcan series, allowing for a broader range of designs and construction approaches.

The shipyard employs a team of in-house designers and engineers, and also collaborates with external naval architects and design studios for specific projects.
