Perini Navi

Perini Navi was founded in Viareggio in 1983 by Fabio Perini, an engineer whose background in industrial paper-converting machinery led him to a deceptively simple question: why could a large sailing yacht not be handled by a small crew? His answer was the captive winch and a fully automated, push-button sail handling system, and it changed the character of the sailing superyacht permanently.

The yard's ketches and sloops became a recognisable type — long, low, immaculately finished aluminium and steel hulls with flush decks and rigs that could be trimmed from the helm. Vessels such as Maltese Falcon, Perseus^3 and the Vitruvius-designed motor yacht series established Perini Navi across both sail and power, while collaborations with Ron Holland, Philippe Briand and Vitruvius Yacht Design kept the naval architecture at the front of the field.

After a period of financial restructuring, the brand was acquired by The Italian Sea Group in 2022, which continues construction at Viareggio and La Spezia. Perini Navi remains a reference point for owners who want genuine ocean-crossing sailing capability without the crew numbers such yachts once demanded.
