Mangusta Yachts

Mangusta Yachts is a brand of Overmarine Group, an Italian shipyard founded in 1985 by the Balducci family. The company's headquarters are located in Viareggio, Italy. Initially, Overmarine focused on the production of high-performance open yachts, which later became known globally under the Mangusta brand name. The shipyard gained recognition for its express cruisers, characterized by a combination of speed, comfort, and Italian design.

Over the years, Mangusta expanded its product offerings beyond open yachts. The company introduced its Mangusta Oceano displacement series, marking its entry into the long-range steel and aluminum yacht market. This was followed by the Mangusta GranSport line, which bridges the gap between fast open yachts and slower displacement vessels, offering a balance of performance and extended cruising capabilities. The Mangusta Gransport 33 was introduced as an entry point into this series.

Mangusta's production facilities include several sites in the Tuscan region. The Viareggio shipyard focuses on the Mangusta Maxi Open and Mangusta GranSport lines, while the Pisa facility is dedicated to the construction of Mangusta Oceano displacement yachts and larger Mangusta GranSport models. The Art Deco period building at the Pisa site, formerly a customs house, holds historical significance.

The shipyard utilizes various construction materials including composite materials for its open and GranSport lines, and steel and aluminum for the Oceano series. Design and naval architecture are often handled in collaboration with external studios, in addition to an in-house team. Key design collaborations include those with Alberto Mancini for exterior and interior design on several models, and PierLuigi Ausonio Naval Architecture for naval architectural aspects, particularly for the Oceano and GranSport lines.

Overmarine Group remains under the ownership and management of the Balducci family. Federico Balducci currently serves as the Group CEO. The company's current production focus spans several distinct lines: the Maxi Open series, known for its high-speed performance; the Oceano series, comprising long-range displacement yachts; and the GranSport series, offering fast displacement performance. Mangusta yachts are marketed globally.
