Canadian Vickers

Canadian Vickers was an industrial company based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The company was established in 1911 as a subsidiary of the British engineering firm Vickers Limited. Initially, Canadian Vickers focused on shipbuilding and general engineering. Their facilities were located on the waterfront of the Saint Lawrence River. Throughout its history, the company was involved in various heavy industries, including the construction of ships, aircraft, and industrial machinery.

During both World War I and World War II, Canadian Vickers played a significant role in wartime production, constructing numerous vessels for naval and merchant marine use. The company built destroyers, corvettes, frigates, and cargo ships for the Canadian and Allied forces. In the interwar period and immediate post-war years, Canadian Vickers continued its shipbuilding activities, often specializing in icebreakers, ferries, and various commercial vessels for Canadian waters. Their expertise in constructing vessels for challenging maritime environments, such as those found in the Arctic, became a notable aspect of their operations.
